January 1947

Rogers City experienced its first significant snowstorm of the year, bringing a remarkable accumulation of 15 to 18 inches of snow over the course of just one day. The heavy snowfall has not only transformed the picturesque landscape into a winter wonderland but has also created considerable challenges for residents and commuters alike. The strong winds accompanying the storm have exacerbated the situation, creating hazardous conditions that make traffic particularly difficult and treacherous. City plows have been tirelessly working around the clock to clear the roads and ensure safe passage for vehicles; however, the relentless snowfall continues to complicate their efforts, as new layers of snow quickly cover the freshly plowed streets. To aid in the ongoing battle against the snow, Michigan Limestone has stepped in to assist by deploying their company plow to help clear the local highways, ensuring that vital routes remain accessible for emergency services and residents.

This harrowing experience highlights not only the severity of the storm but also the spirit of community and camaraderie that exists in Rogers City, where residents come together in times of need.

This significant change has left a sense of loss among the fanbase, as Greenberg was not only a star player but also a symbol of hope and resilience for many. The Pirates have agreed to pay him an impressive $100,000 annually, a figure that sets a new salary record in Major League Baseball and reflects his immense talent and value. In a bid to accommodate his impressive power hitting, the Pirates made adjustments to the left field fence at Forbes Field, creating a designated area known as "Greenberg's Gardens."
