Despite the frigid temperatures that often characterize the winter months, the community has wholeheartedly embraced the season by actively participating in a variety of outdoor activities that bring residents together and foster a sense of camaraderie. One of the highlights of this winter season was the recent exhibition organized by the Alpena Figure Skating Club, which boasts a membership of around 50 dedicated skaters. This vibrant event, sponsored by the Rogers City Chamber of Commerce, took place at the city's beloved ice-skating rink, affectionately known as "the hole." Over the course of two hours, the performance was thoughtfully divided into two distinct acts, showcasing the talents and creativity of the club's members. The first act featured a delightful interpretation of classic Mother Goose nursery rhymes, bringing to life the whimsical characters and stories that have enchanted children for generations. The second act transported the audience to a more elegant realm, as the skaters performed to the enchanting strains of Johann Strauss II's "Blue Danube," a piece that perfectly complemented the graceful movements of the skaters as they glided across the ice.
